Sydney Bristow’s Apartment

img_1962.jpg

Β Although I am not a big Alias fan – never seen an episode, actually – I know most of America was pretty obsessed with it. And I do love me some Jennifer Garner. So when I found the address of Sydney’s Bristow’s apartment in my fave stalking book, I, of course, had to stalk it.

img_1963.jpg

Β Β Sydney Bristow lived in a very cute Spanish style apartment building called the El Cadiz in Hollywood. It was built in 1936 and definitely evokes a feeling of Old Hollywood. The El Cadiz is also a City of Los Angeles declared Historic-Cultural Monument.

Now that I have stalked Alias, I think I am going to have to go rent me the first season on DVD, so I can see what all the fuss is about. πŸ™‚

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

Stalk It: Sydney Bristow lived in the El Cadiz apartments located at 1731 N. Sycamore Avenue in Hollywood, just a half a block north of Hollywood Boulevard and a few short blocks from the Hollywood and Highland Center. In 1970, Janis Joplin died of a drug overdose just a half a block from the El Cadiz at the Highland Gardens Hotel, which can be found at 7047 Franklin Avenue.

Don’t Quit Your Day Job, Spencer!

img_2002.jpg

Those who have seen Heidi’s new music video “Higher” will totally understand when I say it’s a good thing Spencer comes from money as I really don’t see a bright future for him in the music video industry. For those of you who have yet to see Heidi’s video, you really must do so now, as there are NO words to describe it!!!!

LOL LOL LOL!

A few months ago in US Magazine I read that Spencer’s dad is a prominent Santa Monica dentist, so this weekend I did a google search for a Dr. Pratt in Santa Monica. I found the address of his office right away and promptly drove there to take a picture. πŸ™‚ His office is located in a very nice building in a nice part of town – so I am not too worried about Spencer not having a future in music video directing. I am fairly certain his daddy will continue to take care of him until he finds his true life calling. For the time being, Spencer should rest assured that he is fulfilling his goal of “making people react and ultimately not think about that we are in a war in Iraq” – while watching “Higher” I swear I didn’t think about the war in Iraq once!

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

img_2010.jpg

Stalk It: If you want to get your teeth examined by Dr. Pratt, you can find him at the Tenth Street Medical Building in Santa Monica, located at 1450 10th Street, right at the corner of 10th and Broadway. Maybe he can also give you ginormous white teeth just like Spencer! πŸ™‚

No soy una cazadora!

handlercan135mw.jpg Oh my gosh – I’ve been translated!!!!! Apparently Google can translate webpages into any language and someone had me translated into Spanish!!! How cool is that? Evidentally the word “stalker” in Spanish is “cazadora” which directly translates to “hunter.” LOL

Hasta la prΓ³xima vez, Β‘Feliz Acecho! πŸ™‚

Where Music and Passion Are Always the Fashion

img_1985.jpg I can now die a happy woman because on Valentine’s Day I got to hear “Copacabana” sung live and in person by none other than Barry Manilow himself!! My boss had Valentine’s Day tickets to Barry’s “An Evening of Music and Passion” at the Staples Center in Downtown LA, but his wife ended up getting sick so he gave the tickets to me. I was absolutely floored as my dad is a huge Barry fan and I grew up listening to the man who “writes the songs that make the whole world sing.” What I didn’t realize was that my boss had luxury BOX seats for the show and my boyfriend and I were treated like VIP’s all night! It was the perfect way to spend Valentine’s Day!

img_1974.jpg I have lived in Los Angeles for almost 8 years now, but this was actually my very first trip to the Staples Center. And what a way to get introduced to it!! Having box seats, we didn’t have to wait in the massive lines at the main entrance; instead we were whisked through a separate VIP entrance. We had separate elevators, separate bathrooms, and even a VIP bar complete with an actual carving station serving up every kind of meat you could ever want. In the middle of the show, they even brought around an enormous Valentine dessert tray to all of the boxes.

img_1984.jpgTo top it off, our seats were incredible!!!! The box was huge and luxurious, with leather seats and a huge plasma TV and we were practically sitting right on top of the stage. Barry was, as always, the perfect showman and the concert was spectacular! He sung all of his greatest hits, including “I Write the Songs”, “Mandy” -which was made complete with a sparkling white grand piano that was raised up onto the stage – and, my personal favorite, a 10 minute encore of “Copacabana.” It was one of those occasions that made me wish I knew how to whistle! I cannot think of a better way to have spent Valentine’s Day.

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

Stalk It:You can see Barry Manilow live and in person at the Las Vegas Hilton where he is headlining with his show “Manilow: Music and Passion.” Tickets can be purchased here. The Las Vegas Hilton is located at 3000 Paradise Road, just off The Strip. Staples Center is located at 1111 S. Figueroa Street in Downtown LA. If you have the means, I definitely recommend getting box seats – it’s the only way to concert! πŸ™‚

Where the Stars Shop!

img_1954.jpg While Rodeo Drive is the most widely known shopping mecca for the rich and famous, there is another lesser known shopping street in West Hollywood that the celebs swarm to in droves for their version of retail therapy. That street is called Robertson Boulevard and it is home to a little store named Kitson. Kitson is a celeb favorite – the boutique for all things trendy – and has remained so for the past few years. On any given day, you might spot Lindsay Lohan, Paris and Nikki Hilton, Nicole Richie, Eva Longoria, Jessica Simpson, Drew Barrymore, or Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen. It is the Les Deux of shopping.

Kitson always carries the latest and greatest, but – be prepared – it can be pricey. Kitson was the very first shop to come out with the “Team” t-shirts that have become ever so popular. Starting with “Team Aniston” (YAY!) vs. “Team Jolie”, Kitson then branched out into “Team Paris” vs. “Team Nicole” and “Team Lauren” vs. “Team Heidi.” They sell everything from Kabbalah bracelets to Hudson Jeans to Victoria Beckham’s new book– which is (surprisingly) fantastic, by the way! Lauren Conrad’s line of clothing and purses can also be purchased at Kitson.

Kitson is not the only celeb magnet on Robertson. You might remember the Lisa Klein store from an early episode of Newlyweds –it’s the shop where the salespeople had to drop down a special black-out curtain to stop the paparazzi from watching Jessica Simpson shop. Lindsay Lohan got into one of her many car accidents on Robertson Blvd. and she ended up running into Hideaway House Antiques to hide from the paparazzi. The most popular celeb restaurant of them all – The Ivy – can also be found on Robertson. The Ivy is the place to “do lunch” and be seen in Hollywood. Tom and Katie went there on one of their first dates, John Travolta dined there in the movie Get Shorty and Lindsay Lohan is a regular.

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

Stalk It: Robertson Boulevard is located north of the 10 Freeway in West Hollywood. Kitson can be found at 115 S. Robertson – but if you can’t make it out to West Hollywood, you can shop Kitson from the comfort of your own home at www.shopkitson.com. The Ivy is located at 113 N. Robertson – keep your eyes peeled for the paparazzi who usually wait for the celebs with cameras poised directly across the street. While shopping on Robertson, be sure to hit up the MAC Cosmetics Pro Store, located at 133 N. Robertson – it’s by far my favorite MAC store in all of LA.

Courteney Cox’s Former Home

img_1950.jpg In honor of the recent sale of Courteney Cox’s John Lautner designed Malibu home, I thought I’d do a little stalking of a house she lived in way back in the day. During the first two seasons of Friends, Courteney Cox lived in a charming little house in Santa Monica, located just a few blocks from the ultra-exclusive shopping district of Montana Avenue.

It’s funny to imagine Courteney living in such a normal house in such a normal neighborhood during the height of Friends. While the house is pretty private, it lacks the large gates, walls, and driveways that are so common to movie-star homes. Standing in front of Courteney’s former house, I was left wondering if Jen Aniston came to visit often. If only I had known Courteney’s address back then!!!! In 1996, she sold this home and moved to a larger home in Brentwood.

I found this location thanks to Big Time Listings who posted a great article on all of Courteney’s former digs.

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

Stalk It: Courteney’s home from her early days on Friends is located at 606 Alta Drive in Santa Monica. After stalking her house, head over to Montana Avenue for some great shopping and dining. Arnold Schwarzenegger often eats breakfast at Cafe Montana, located at 1534 Montana Ave., on Sunday mornings with his family. You’ll know he’s there by the three or four black SUV’s parked outside and the oh-so-subtle secret service agents stationed at the front doors of the Cafe.

Yamashiro Restaurant – Looking Down on All of Hollywood!

Yamashiro On Saturday, my boyfriend took me to dinner at a former Japanese palace called Yamashiro, located in Hollywood – 250 feet above Hollywood Boulevard, to be exact. The restaurant has the most amazing views of Hollywood and surrounding LA that I have ever seen and it was a pretty incredible place to spend an evening – and the food was absolutely yummy! And, need I mention, Yamashiro has also served as a backdrop for countless movie and TV productions. πŸ™‚

img_1956.jpg Yamashiro, which means “Mountain Palace” in Japanese, was actually one of the very first Hollywood hot spots. Built in 1914, on over seven acres of land, as a private home to the Bernheimer Brothers, it was modeled after a palace located in the Yamashiro Mountains in Kyoto, Japan. After the death of one of the brothers in 1922, Yamashiro was sold and became home to celeb hot spot the “400 Club” – an exclusive hangout for the Hollywood Royalty of the 20’s and 30’s. Sadly, during WWII the property was destroyed by vandals due to anti-Japanese sentiment, and it fell into disarray. It later became a boys’ military school. The property remained in disrepair until it was purchased by Thomas O. Glover in 1948, who painstakingly returned Yamashiro to its original glory. The pagoda, located in Yamashiro’s garden area, is actually the oldest structure in California!

img_1957.jpg While you are there, be sure to walk through the gardens on the property and take a look at the exquisite inner courtyard inside the restaurant. If you visit Yamashiro at night, keep your eyes on the Capital Records Building – the light on the spire atop the building spells out the word “Hollywood” in old Morse Code – a little tidbit of Hollywood trivia that I didn’t know until last night. You learn something new everyday!

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

Stalk It: Yamashiro is located at the very top of Hollywood at 1999 N. Sycamore Street. If you go there for dinner be sure to try the Yamashiro Crispy Chicken and the Butter Lettuce Wraps – so yummy! Yamashiro would actually be the perfect place to have Valentine’s dinner – or a romantic Valentine’s drink! Besides being a great place to eat, Yamashiro has a vast filming history – including being featured in the movies Gone in 60 Seconds, Blind Date, Memoirs of a Geisha, and countless commercials and TV shows.

Epic Records – Audrina’s Place of Business

img_1953.jpg On The Hills, Audrina Patridge, Lauren’s roommate, works at Epic Records, a division of Sony BMG Music Entertainment. Being that I am completely obsessed with The Hills (when is the second part of the third season going to air already????) I just had to stalk the office building where Audrina works. This location was a snap to find, as I had driven by it many times before and recognized it immediately when it was shown on The Hills. The Sony BMG Music building is located in a cute little business district in Santa Monica, just off the 10 Freeway. While there, you can walk right up to the back gates of the building on 20th Street, and peek in to see the interior courtyard area, which is used frequently on The Hills whenever Audrina needs to escape and have a chat about Justin Bobby with one of her co-workers.

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

Stalk It: The Sony BMG building is located at 2100 Colorado Avenue, at the corner of 20th Street, in Santa Monica. If you drive north on Colorado, you can hit up Quiznos, La Salsa, and, my personal favorite, Starbucks. I wonder if Audrina stops at that Starbucks every morning before work?!?! πŸ™‚

Courteney Cox’s Former Malibu Beach House

img_1060.jpg

According to fave website Real Estalker, Courteney Cox and David Arquette have just sold their John Lautner designed Malibu beach home for a cool $33.5 million. I stalked this unique home a couple of years ago, back when I was trying to locate Jen Aniston’s beach house. I knew the Arquettes lived on Carbon Beach, the same small stretch of land where Jen’s house is located. While searching for Jen’s house, I passed by an extremely interesting home, unlike any I had ever seen before, and I knew it had to be the Arquette’s.

At first I thought the house was extremely weird and ugly, but I must admit it has grown on me. I am starting to really like John Lautner’s unique and dramatic style of architecture. His space age inspired homes have been used in countless movies, including Charlie’s Angels, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Lethal Weapon 2, Body Double and Diamonds Are Forever.

You can see pics of the inside of Courteney’s house here.

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

Stalk It: The Arquette’s former beach house is located at 22426 Pacific Coast Highway on Carbon Beach. While stalking that house, you can also stalk Jen’s former home, located just down the road at 22164 Pacific Coast Highway. The Arquette’s new home is located near Paradise Cove at 27460 PCH.

The Bewitched House!

img_1948.jpg

This weekend I stalked the house used as Darrin and Samantha’s home on the 1964 TV series Bewitched. Interestingly enough, the house, located in Santa Monica, California, was only the inspiration for the home seen on the series, but was never actually used for filming. An exact replica of the Santa Monica house was built on the Warner Brothers Ranch lot in Burbank and the producers used that home for filming. Even more interesting, the house on the Ranch lot is actually the complete opposite of the real home in Santa Monica – almost an exact mirror image – in that everything on the set house was switched to the opposite side. The peaked roof is located on the right side of the real house, but on the set version it is on the left.

I found this location on Zillow’s fabulous Famous Houses page. Walking up to the house I felt like I had stepped back in time. Surrounded mostly by modernized and remodeled houses, the Bewitched house looks like it hasn’t been touched in years. But in a good way. πŸ™‚ It’ll bring you right back to 1964!

Until next time, Happy Stalking! πŸ™‚

Stalk It: While Samantha and Darrin supposedly lived at 1164 Morning Glory Circle in West Connecticut, the real house can be found at 267 18th Street in Santa Monica, just north of Montana Ave. According to IMDB, the house was also used as Gidget’s house in the TV series of the same name. Warner Brothers Ranch lot is located at 411 N. Hollywood Way in Burbank. Sadly (tragic really!) the Ranch is not open to the public. πŸ™ This website has GREAT pictures and information about the Ranch, so at the very least you can stalk it from your computer screen. Many famous movie and TV locations are located on the lot, including the Griswold Family’s home from Christmas Vacation, Danny Glover’s house in Lethal Weapon, the house from Life Goes On, and, my personal favorite, the fountain from the opening credits of Friends!
