The Wedding Singer Bakery

IMG_3473-800

A few weeks ago, fellow stalker Owen asked for my help in locating the bakery featured in one of his all time favorite movies, the 1998 comedy The Wedding Singer.  Owen had actually contacted one of the movie’s crew members who happened to remember that the bakery where filming took place was located somewhere in Montrose, a small town in the San Gabriel Valley where quite a few scenes from The Wedding Singer were filmed.  Because Owen does not live in the area, he sent me out on a mission to stalk all of the bakeries located in the tiny town in the hopes that I would eventually find the right one.   So, early one morning last week, I dragged my parents out to Montrose to hopefully stalk the Wedding Singer  bakery.

IMG_3468-800

And, sure enough, it was the very first bakery we walked into!!  Ironically, I had ALREADY STALKED this location just last month while visiting some sites from the Will Ferrell comedy Old School.  It turns out that the exterior of the Wedding Singer bakery was also used as the restaurant in Old School  where Luke Wilson and his “brothers” have a meeting about saving their fraternity!  I didn’t immediately recognize the place from my previous stalking trip because, due to the fact that only the exterior of the bakery was featured in Old School,  I never ventured inside.  But while walking by last week, I peeked in the window and immediately recognized the pink sign pictured above which reads “This is the same ol place”.  That sign was featured pretty prominently in the Wedding Singer  bakery scene, so as soon as I saw it I knew I had found the right spot.  It was at that point that I pretty much started screaming “This is it!  This is it!  This is it!” to my parents right there on the street out in front of the shop!   While I had figured that the bakery featured in the movie would still be around, never in a million years did I think it would still look EXACTLY the same today as it did when the Wedding Singer  was filmed over a decade ago!  YAY!

MontroseBakery

Montrose Home Bakery and Sandwich Shoppe actually pops up during my very favorite part of The Wedding Singer – at the beginning of the Drew Barrymore/Adam Sandler falling in love montage set to the Hall & Oates song “You Make My Dreams Come True”.  🙂  In the scene, Drew Barrymore and friends are first seen looking at wedding cakes in the bakery’s glass display counter.  You can even see the bakery’s striped awning behind actor Allen Covert in the above screen capture.

Drew and friends then proceed to feed each other wedding cake in the scene.  Although the bakery is only featured for a few brief moments, thanks to the awesome ’80s song playing in the background, it’s quite a memorable little part of the movie.

IMG_3470-800

While stalking the bakery, I happened to start up a conversation with the owner who really could NOT have been nicer to us!  He answered a whole bunch of my silly questions and told me to take all the pictures I wanted.  It turns out that the Montrose Home Bakery and Sandwich Shoppe has been used for quite a bit of filming over the years.  Besides The Wedding Singer and Old School, the shop was also featured in several episodes of the now-defunct television series Dirty Sexy Money.  There is even a photograph of the owner and Donald Sutherland taken during the filming posted in the shop’s front window.  Apparently, he used to have a picture of himself with Drew Barrymore in that same window, but it is now stored at his home.  He told me that if he posted all of his celebrity photographs from all of the filming that has taken place at his little shop, his entire front window would be covered up!  LOL LOL LOL LOVE IT!

Montrose Home Bakery and Sandwich Shoppe is a super cute little place and I HIGHLY recommend stalking it.  The shop smelled absolutely delicious inside, but, unfortunately, because I am diabetic, I wasn’t able to sample any of the sweets.  🙁  I am seriously thinking about having them make the cupcakes for my wedding, though.  How fitting would it be to get my wedding cupcakes from the Wedding Singer  bakery????  😉

Until next time, Happy Stalking!  🙂

Stalk It: The Wedding Singer  Bakery, aka Montrose Home Bakery and Sandwich Shoppe, is located at 2325 1/2 Honolulu Avenue in Montrose.  The shop houses both a bakery and a restaurant, and, from what I’ve heard, the restaurant serves up a GREAT breakfast.

The “Never Been Kissed” Prom

Never-Been-Kissed-Prom-1

A couple of weeks ago, thanks to fellow stalker Chas, I was able to stalk the location of South Glen South High School’s prom from the 1999 movie Never Been Kissed.   Chas and I both knew that the prom interiors had been filmed at the Ebell of Los Angeles – a women’s educational and philanthropic club which has a long and storied film history and which I promise to blog about in the near future – but the exterior scenes had actually been filmed at another location entirely.  It was that exterior location that I asked Chas to find during my Never Been Kissed stalking kick a few weeks back.  Ironically, he told me that it was the one location from the movie that he didn’t think he would be able to track down.  Well, I guess he just doesn’t realize how good he really is because a few hours later he emailed me back with an address and, sure enough, it was the spot!!   YAY!

ScreenShot1606

ScreenShot1608

Never-Been-Kissed-Prom-5

Ironically enough, the exterior Never Been Kissed  prom location can actually be found just a block and a half away from the Ebell.    Why the two different locations you ask?  Well, my best guess is that producers wanted to shoot Drew and the gang’s entrance to the dance at a building with a large drop-off area, which the Ebell unfortunately doesn’t have.  So, when they found a suitable building located just two short blocks away, they decided to film the entrance scene there instead.  Just another example of the magic of Hollywood at work!  🙂

Never-Been-Kissed-Prom-3

For some odd reason I could not find much information about the Never Been Kissed  prom location online, even though it looks like it could be some sort of historic structure.   I’m actually very surprised that it is not on the National Register of Historic Places, as it is a truly beautiful place.  The only information I was able to discover is that the Mediterranean style building, which used to be a private residence, was converted to commercial office space in 1981.  While it is currently vacant, in the past the building housed the Metropolitan Talent Agency and, most recently, a wedding coordination company named the Ahn Gallery.   You can see interior photographs of the building on its leasing website here

Big THANK YOU to Chas for finding this location!  🙂

Until next time, Happy Stalking!   🙂

Stalk It: The Never Been Kissed  prom site is located at 4526 Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles.  Note – if you search this location using Google Maps, the building will not show up.  You have to move about a block to the West to see it.  🙂  The Ebell of Los Angeles, where the interior prom scenes were filmed, is located just  down the street at 743 South Lucerne Boulevard.  Unfortunately, both properties are currently closed to the public.

The Never Been Kissed Coffee Shop and Tiki Post

Monrovia-Coffee-Shop-Never-Been-Kissed-4

It appears to be “Chas week” here at iamnotastalker.com, because once again I find myself posting locations which were unearthed thanks to the incredible stalking talents of my friend Chas!  A few weeks ago, I enlisted his help in finding both the coffee shop and the Tiki Post locations featured in fave romantic comedy Never Been Kissed.  Chas located both sites pretty much immediately and I am VERY happy to report that the coffee shop featured in NBK is an actual coffee shop in real life, too!  Y’all know how much I love me some coffee!  So, I immediately dragged my fiance out to Monrovia to do some Never Been Kissed stalking  – and to grab an iced latte, too, of course!  🙂

Monrovia-Coffee-Shop-Never-Been-Kissed-1

The coffee shop, which was called Nana’s in Never Been Kissed, shows up towards the beginnning of the movie as the spot where Leelee Sobieski and Drew Barrymore grab a bite to eat after cool guy Guy hides Josie’s car.  In reality, that coffee shop is known as the Monrovia Coffee Company and from what information I could gather while stalking it, I believe it is the very same place that was there when NBK was filmed.  The girl working the front counter was a new employee, so she couldn’t answer many of my questions, but she did say she was fairly certain that the Monrovia Coffee Company had occupied that same space for well over ten years.  Maybe it’s just me, but wouldn’t you think the fact that Never Been Kissed had been filmed on the premises would have been part of the information given out during the employee training program???  Sheesh!

ScreenShot1526

Monrovia-Coffee-Shop-Never-Been-Kissed-10

I am very happy to report that the Monrovia Coffee Company looks almost exactly the same in person as it did onscreen in Never Been Kissed.  The decor has changed slighty and new tables and chairs have been added in the ten years since filming took place, but otherwise it is very easily recognizable!

NBK1

NBK2

Even the neon ice cream/coffee cup sign is STILL in place in the front window – albeit in a slightly different spot.  SO LOVE IT!!!!!

ScreenShot1530

Monrovia-Coffee-Shop-Never-Been-Kissed-7

And, of course, I just HAD to sit in the same exact place where Leelee and Drew hung out during the scene.  🙂  There is no table in that corner area now, but I was still floored to be sitting there, just the same.

NBK3

Chas was able to find this location by noticing an address number posted across the street from the coffee shop when Josie looked out the window during the scene.   He had an inkling the coffee shop was located in Monrovia and, sure enough, he was right!

Monrovia-Coffee-Shop-Never-Been-Kissed-13

The Monrovia Coffee Company is a super cute little place that serves up some great coffee, so I highly recommend stalking it!!

ScreenShot1531

Just up the street from the NBK coffee shop was the storefront that was used as the Tiki Post where David Arquette worked in the movie.  I say “was the storefront” because, unfortunately, that location no longer exists.  Old Town Monrovia got a bit of a facelift a few years back and the block where the Tiki Post was located was changed considerably.

Never-Been-Kissed-Tiki-Lounge-Copy-Shop-2

Never-Been-Kissed-Tiki-Lounge-Copy-Shop-11

I am going to guess that at the time Never Been Kissed was filmed the Tiki Post space was vacant, which is why producers chose to use it.  Shortly after the movie was completed, the entire property was razed and a Cold Stone Creamery built in its place.

ScreenShot1533

“The Fox and the Hair” salon, which Drew and David are standing in front of in the above screen capture, was also completely torn down and is now a Krikorian Movie Theatre.   The Fox and the Hair moved just around the corner from this location to a storefront on Lime Avenue.

Chas was also able to pinpoint this location using an address number and a sign posted directly across the street from the Tiki Post which read “L & D Appliance Corp.”  Thankfully, L & D is still located in the exact same spot it was during the filming of Never Been Kissed, which led Chas right to the former Tiki Post location.  I told you he was good!  🙂

Big thank you – yet again! – to Chas for finding these locations.

Until next time, Happy Stalking!  🙂

Stalk It:  The Never Been Kissed coffee shop, aka the Monrovia Coffee Company, is located at 425 South Myrtle Avenue in Monrovia.  The former Tiki Post location can be found at 408 South Myrtle Avenue, also in Monrovia.

The Never Been Kissed House

Never-Been-Kissed-House-2

Last weekend, thanks to fellow stalker Chas, I was able to stalk a location I’ve been on the lookout for for quite some time – Drew Barrymore’s childhood home from fave romantic comedy Never Been Kissed.   Chas is quite the master stalker, so last week I enlisted his help in finding this location and, lo and behold, he unearthed it pretty much immediately!  Thank you, Chas!!!  Never Been Kissed  supposedly takes place in the Chicago area, but being that 99.9% of the movie was filmed right here in L.A., Chas had an inkling that “Josie Grosie’s” childhood home was most likely located here, as well.  And sure enough, he was right.  🙂

Never-Been-Kissed-House-9

ScreenShot1497

I am very happy to report that Josie’s house looks EXACTLY the same today as it did back in 1999 when Never Been Kissed was filmed.  And I really could not have been more excited to be seeing it in person!

Josie’s home is featured several times throughout the movie, most notably as the location of the heartbreaking scene when she gets egged on prom night by her high school crush, Billy.  Ugh, such a sad scene!

It is also the spot where Guy picks up Josie for her second prom experience – one that turns out to be much better than her first.  🙂

Amazingly enough, Chas also managed to track down the home Josie lived in as an adult in the movie, which, ironically, can actually be found in Chicago.  I find it incredibly strange that the producers would go all the way to the Windy City to film a few establishing shots of the home along with one very brief scene between Drew Barrymore and David Arquette that takes place in front of the home, when pretty much every other scene in the movie was filmed in Los Angeles.  But, according to Chas, whenever filmmakers want to establish that a movie is taking place in Chicago, they film at a location near an ‘L’ Train.  Which is exactly what they did in Never Been Kissed.  🙂  In the movie, Drew’s home is located directly beneath a set of ‘L’ Train tracks.  Chas just recently visted the Windy City and was kind enough to stop by Josie’s house to take some pictures for me.  SO COOL!

Big THANK YOU to Chas for finding these locations and sharing his pictures of Josie’s Chicago home!  🙂

The Never Been Kissed High School

IMG_2829-800

Yesterday, I dragged my mom out to a location I have been meaning to stalk for years now – the school that stood in for South Glen High School in the 1999 romantic comedy Never Been Kissed.   In actuality, though, the school where filming took place wasn’t a high school at all, but a huge middle school named John Burroughs located in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles.  John Burroughs Middle School opened up way back in 1924 with a starting roster of only 400 students.  Today, that student body has grown to include a whopping 2,300 Sixth, Seventh, and Eighth graders!   John Burroughs, or “JB” as it is more commonly known, is absolutely HUGE in person, much larger than it appeared in Never Been Kissed.  So large, in fact, that I couldn’t step back far enough to fit its whole exterior in the lens of my camera!!  I so need to invest in that fish eye lens!  LOL   John Burroughs is a very beautiful, traditional style brick school that looks like it could be found in any city in America.  Because of its All-American feel, it’s not hard to see why it has been featured in countless movie and television productions.

ScreenShot1393

ScreenShot1394

IMG_2827-800

While my mom and I were stalking the school, we ran into a couple of faculty members who really could not have been nicer to us.  They gave us a brief rundown of some of the filming that has taken place on the JB campus, but inronically it seemed that I knew more about the school’s filming history than they did.  🙂   LOL  And, since school is not currently in session, they even let us walk around the campus to snap some pictures.  🙂  I am happy to report that John Burroughs Middle School looks pretty much exactly the same in person as it did onscreen in Never Been Kissed.  Both the interior and the exterior of the middle school were used extensively in the filming.  Specific areas of the school featured in the movie include the exterior, where Drew Barrymore parked her brother’s car each morning;

and the main office, where Drew Barrymore got smacked in the face by a door.

From what I understand, some of JB’s classrooms were also used in the filming of the movie, most notably Room 108, which according to the faculty member I spoke with is a room which has been featured in numerous productions.

 ScreenShot1410

Burroughs Middle School also popped us as Reese Witherspoon and Tobey Maguire’s 1950’s high school in Pleasantville . . .

ScreenShot1411

and as Michael J. Fox’s high school in Teen Wolf.

IMG_2844-800

The exterior of the middle school was also featured in Teaching Mrs. Tingle, Rex Buster, The Samurai of Strongsville, Ohio, Rebound, Beauty Shop, Agent Cody Banks, Casper: A Spirited Beginning, and the television series Family Matters.  The interiors of the school were used in The Haunting of Molly Hartley, Like Father, Like Son, and Meteor Man  and its auditorium was featured in the movie Deep Impact.  There are also reports that the school was used in both Pretty in Pink and A Nightmare on Elm Street, but I’m not sure that information is correct.  Filming for both of those moves took place extensively at John Marshall High School in Los Feliz.  That’s not to say, though, that some minor filming might have taken place at Burroughs Middle School, but so far I have not been able to verify that.

Famous alumni of John Burroughs Middle School include Laila Ali (Muhammad Ali’s daughter), Tyra Banks, author James Ellroy, and American Idol’s Frenchie Davis.

Until next time, Happy Stalking!  🙂

Rosie’s Pink House from The Wedding Singer

IMG_2626-800

ScreenShot1260

A couple of weeks ago, fellow stalker Owen contacted me to see if Mike, from MovieShotsLA, and I could help him track down Rosie, aka  the rappin’ granny’s,  pink house from the 1998 movie The Wedding Singer.  Owen had been trying for quite a while to locate the home, but just couldn’t make out the house number that appeared above Rosie’s front door.  So, Mike and I got to work in trying to nail down the home’s location, or at least its correct address number.

Untitled2

And, while neither Mike nor I could figure out that address number, Mike did notice a house number painted on the curb across the street from Rosie’s home (pictured above).  We were fairly certain that address number was 1428, so I immediately emailed Owen to let him know.  And, with that bit of information, he set off to locate the house.  I’m happy to report that it wasn’t long before he found it! 🙂

IMG_2633-800

ScreenShot1254

After searching every single 1400 block in the Pasadena area – which is where we were assuming the house was located – Owen ended up contacting the movie’s location manager, who got back to him pretty much immediately.  Amazingly enough, the location manager remembered the general vicinity of where the home was located, which ended up to be a long way from Pasadena.  It turns out that Rosie’s house is located in West Hollywood, just down the street from both Lauren Conrad’s former Hills  home  and the two houses that appeared in the original Halloween  movie.  I am happy to report that, despite its color, Rosie’s house looks pretty much exactly the same today as it did back in 1998 when The Wedding Singer  was filmed.  According to the location manager that Owen talked to, Rosie’s house was painted pink solely for the filming of the movie, much like the home featured at the end of 13 Going On 30. In real life, the house is painted a light shade of grey.  Also missing in real life is the white picket fence surrounding Rosie’s house, which I am assuming was also installed solely for filming purposes.

[ad]

IMG_2630-800

The house located across the street from Rosie’s also looks pretty much exactly the same as it did in The Wedding Singer.  Even the address number painted on the curb is still there.  🙂  Love it!

Big THANK YOU to Owen for finding this location!!!  Very nicely done!!!  🙂

Until next time, Happy Stalking!  🙂

Robbie Hart’s House

p1010615-800

Thanks to fellow stalker Owen, last week Mike, from MovieShotsLA, and I were able to stalk Robbie Hart’s house from the 1998 romantic comedy The Wedding Singer.  I had actually been wanting to find The Wedding Singer  house for quite a while now, so when Owen told me that he knew where it was located, I just about died!!!  And Mike and I literally ran right out to stalk it.  🙂

I am very happy to report that Robbie’s house looks EXACTLY the same today as it did when The Wedding Singer  was filmed there over eleven years ago.  I mean, even the paint colors are still the same!!  LOVE IT!  The home was originally built in 1908 by one of Pasadena’s first major landowners and prominent citizens, David MacPherson, who was a design engineer for the Mt. Lowe Railway.

In The Wedding Singer, the home actually belongs to Robbie’s sister and her husband.  Robbie lives in the basement area, which, as you can see in the above screen captures, is reached through a little side door marked 1075 1/2.  LOL  In reality, though, that door and basement area do not exist – they were built solely for the filming of the movie.

Robbie’s house, especially the front porch area, is featured numerous times throughout The Wedding Singer.  It is a very cute and very unique, almost barnlike, structure and I highly recommend stalking it!

Big THANK YOU to Owen for finding this location!!! 🙂

Until next time, Happy Stalking! 🙂

It’s A Wrap!

img_2239-800

Got an email the other day from fellow stalker Heather who told me about a store in Burbank named It’s A Wrap that sells clothing, props, and memorabilia from recently wrapped movies and television shows!  Being that the store sounded right up my alley, I immediately ran out to stalk it!!  🙂  It’s A Wrap has been in business selling Hollywood costumes and movie merchandise since 1981.  Owner and founder Janet Dion purchases clothes and props directly from the many movie studios in the area and sells them to the public out of two retail stores – one in Burbank and one in Beverly Hills.  It’s A Wrap has sold clothing from hundreds upon hundreds of productions over the last twenty-eight years, including The Flinstones, Beverly Hills, 90210!!!!, Seventh Heaven, Charmed, Drillbit Taylor, Twilight, Lipstick Jungle, Spanglish, Seven, Guiding Light, Varsity Blues, Seinfeld, Baywatch, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and Las Vegas.  Love it!!

[ad]

Not only does It’s A Wrap provide the general public access to movie items we might otherwise never have the ability to purchase, but the store also has INCREDIBLE deals!!!!  I’m talking INCREDIBLE!!!!  Designer dresses are usually marked down well over 50% below retail value.  Yesterday, while I was stalking the place, I spotted a few super cute BCBG dresses with the original price tags still attached.  The dresses, which were originally priced $298, were selling for $98!!!  But, of course, not a one of them was in my size!!!  Ugh!  Such a bummer!

img_2241-800

Because It’s A Wrap receives new merchandise from the local studios on a daily basis, you simply never know what treasures you are going to discover there.  While I was stalking the place last week, I found clothing from Kath & Kim, Ugly Betty, General Hospital, Hancock, According to Jim, and CSI: Miami – just to name a few.  But the cutest clothes, by far, had to be from the newly-released Wayans Brothers’ movie Dance Flick.  I pretty much loved every single piece from that collection, which included a large assortment of tees by fave designer Michael Stars.  🙂  It’s A Wrap was also selling a HUGE array of evening gowns and cocktail dresses from the soap opera General Hospital.  If I was still in high school, this would DEFINITELY be the place I’d shop for my prom dress.  🙂

EXCLUSIVE: Prom Night for 90210 Stars

The store even had a dress from Disney Studios that looked strikingly similar to Silver’s prom dress from last week’s episode of 90210.   Oh, if only I had a prom to go to!  🙂

img_2243-800

I honestly can’t recommend stalking It’s A Wrap enough.  But be sure to keep in mind that even though the shop sells movie costumes, it is still a used clothing store.   Don’t go in there expecting it to look like a Beverly Hills boutique.  It’s A Wrap is a thrift shop, and if you don’t like that sort of thing, you won’t like this place.  🙂  Also don’t go in there expecting to find a specific costume from a specific movie or television show.  While all of the clothing for sale at It’s A Wrap bears tags marking what production or what studio it came from, no reference is made to what actor or actress actually wore the item.  In fact, many of the clothes for sale were most likely not worn by a lead actor, but by secondary and background actors.  And some of the costumes may never even have been worn at all.    At the same time, though, you simply never know what you are going to find at It’s A Wrap.  A few years back, one lucky customer walked away with Brad Pitt’s shoes from the movie Seven.  🙂  Any visiting tourist who wants to take a piece of Hollywood home with them should definitely stalk It’s A Wrap!  Oh, and the best part about the store?  Showcased on the walls are countless costumes worn in famous movies and television shows, including items worn by Shannen Doherty, Shirley MacLaine, Sean Penn, and Demi Moore.    If you do happen to stalk It’s A Wrap, be sure to keep your eyes peeled for celebs, because, amazingly enough, quite a few of them are fans of the store.  Famous customers include Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Mario Lopez, Jennifer Love Hewitt, David Arquette, Brittany Murphy, Nicole Eggert, Drew  Barrymore, Geena Davis, Sir Anthony Hopkins, and my fave Shannen Doherty.  🙂

Big THANK YOU to Amanda for telling me about It’s A Wrap!  🙂

Until next time, Happy Stalking!  🙂

Stalk It: It’s A Wrap has two Los Angeles area locations.  The first is located at 3315 West Magnolia Boulevard in Burbank.  The other can be found at 1164 South Robertson Boulevard in Beverly Hills.  You can visit the It’s A Wrap website here.  Another great place to purchase movie and celebrity memorabilia is the website www.starwares.com

Drew Barrymore’s Wedding Singer House

img_0514-800

This is going to be a short post today as I have had a whirlwind weekend (which I promise to write about tomorrow!)  and had no time to blog.  Anyway, a few weeks ago, Mike, from MovieShotsLA, took me out to stalk a location from one of my favorite romantic comedies of all time  – the Drew Barrymore/Adam Sandler flick The Wedding Singer.   After doing a bit of cyberstalking, Mike discovered this website which listed the address of Drew Barrymore’s house from the 1998 film.  And, let me tell you, I could not have been more excited to go stalk it!

screenshot995

I am happy to report that, aside from the exterior color and the current lack of an awing over the porch area, Drew Barrymore’s Wedding Singer  house looks exactly the same today as it did back in 1998 when the movie was filmed.

img_0515-800

screenshot998

The home shows up several times in the film, most notably when Robbie Hart (Adam Sandler) spies Julia (Drew Barrymore) through her front window trying on her wedding dress and he mistakenly thinks her excitement in doing so is for her soon-to-be husband Glenn.  But, in reality, Julia is smiling because she is practicing introducing herself as Mrs. Robbie Hart.  🙂  Awwww.  So cute!

[ad]

img_0513-800

Julia’s house is a very cute little Craftsman style bungalow and I highly recommend stalking it!  And a little bit of movie trivia for you – according to IMDB, The Wedding Singer  and the Back to the Future trilogy are the only movies in the history of cinema to ever feature a DeLorean car.  So random!

Until next time, Happy Stalking!  🙂

The He’s Just Not That Into You Movie Premiere

img_0228

I am currently waiting on pins and needles for the movie He’s Just Not That Into You to hit theatres this upcoming Friday. The New Line Cinema film has all the makings of a hit – it stars my girl Jen and is based on an episode of fave television show Sex and the City. Come on – what more could a girl ask for?? 🙂 The “Pick-a-Little, Talk-a-Little” episode of Sex and the City that featured that now infamous line “He’s just not that into you!” is one of my all-time-favorite episodes. And I absolutely loved the book by SATC creative consultant Greg Behrendt and SATC executive story editor Liz Tuccillo that came out of that episode. I find it absolutely mind boggling that Greg and Liz took one line – one line – from a hit television show and not only turned it into a best-selling self-help book, but also a major motion picture starring numerous A-List celebs. How inspiring! Who knows, maybe one day a hit movie will be created out of a line from one of my blog posts! Hey, a girl can dream, can’t she? 🙂

According to fave book Sex and the City: Kiss and Tell , the idea behind the line “He’s just not that into you!” came about one morning while a group of SATC writers were sitting around their offices getting ready to start their day. One of the writers was asking for advice about a man she was dating who had been sending her “mixed signals”. Someone happened to ask Greg Behrendt, the only straight male in the room, for his perspective on the matter. And that is when Greg uttered the now ubiquitous line: “He’s just not that into you.” The SATC writers were absolutely intrigued by this line of reasoning and an idea was born. And the rest, as they say, is history! So yesterday when some friends and I stumbled onto the world premiere of He’s Just Not That Into You while grabbing a coffee before our acting class I just about keeled over with excitement! 🙂

The premiere was being held at Mann’s Chinese Theatre – the movie house where almost all Hollywood premieres are held – and the red carpet had been set up right in the middle of Hollywood Boulevard. To watch the event fans had to stand on the opposite side of the street behind some steel barriers where the view, unfortunately, was not the best. As you can see in the above photograph, several large screens were placed every few feet along the length of the red carpet for the actors to pose in front of. Much to my dismay, the screens also majorly blocked our view of all the hoopla. LOL

For some incredibly odd reason I have never watched a premiere before – I know, unbelievable, huh? – so I was extremely excited that my first red carpet event would be starring my girl Jen. 🙂 My friends and I parked ourselves just across the street from the red carpet and it wasn’t long before the celebs started arriving. 🙂 The first star we spotted was Ginnifer Goodwin (pictured above), who I absolutely LOVED in fave movie Win A Date With Tad Hamilton. The bright lights on the red carpet made it really hard for me to take photographs, though, so unfortunately the pics didn’t come out very well.

Next up was Drew Barrymore who is absolutely adorable in person. 🙂 She kept turning around to wave to the crowd and would pop her head in between the red carpet screens to smile at us. She was super, super cute in person and seemed very friendly! And it was right around that time – are you sitting down for this – that my camera died! I am not kidding! I managed to snap some pics of Drew using my camera phone, but of course they didn’t turn out very well. Let that be a lesson to me – ALWAYS have my camera charged! LOL After my camera died one of my friends said it was a sign that we should leave the premiere and head to our acting class – which we were already almost a half an hour late for. LOL While talking about the fact that we were so late for class the girl standing next to us said that she, too, was missing a class to watch the premiere. LOL So like the dutiful student that I am, I left the premiere and headed to class – WITHOUT seeing Jen! 🙁 Yes, you read that right. Now that’s dedication if I’ve ever seen it! LOL

For those of you who have never been, I HIGHLY recommend stalking a red carpet premiere. It was SO MUCH FUN! Even though we had to stand pretty far away, I still felt like we were right in the middle of everything that was happening. Besides Drew and Ginnifer, we also got to see Justin Long and Kevin Connolly. 🙂 You can see some high quality red carpet pics on this website where it looks like quite a few celebs – including Jennifer Aniston – walked across the street to sign autographs after making their way through the press line. So bummed I missed it! 🙁

Until next time, Happy Stalking! 🙂
